It’s common street food you can get near oceans.
I was born in In-cheon, 인천, where the international airport and the west coast are.
I remember I very much enjoyed eating this food until I heard a story of my friend that she saw a butterfly wing on them.. hmm.. (omg) Ever since, I couldn’t help but not think about the wings and ended up refusing buying them.
The texture is like dense tofu and you can definitely feel that you will get some protein as you chew them through.
They are usually served in a salty water so they tend to be moist!
Hope you try this when you are in Korea and let me know if you liked them 😉
Beondegi (Korean: 번데기) are a popular snack food in Korean cuisine. Literally meaning “chrysalis” or “pupa” in Korean, Beondegi are steamed or boiled silkworm pupae which are seasoned and eaten as a snack. Beondegi are often served by street vendors, as well as in restaurants and drinking establishments. They are also sold in cans in grocery stores and convenience stores, but they must be boiled in water before serving. Beondegi is not always sold in the market and is usually sold from street vendors, although it is possible to buy the live variant for personal preparation.
The farm is well known for raising sheep in Daeguanryeong in Gangwon Province. It takes about 2~3 hours to get to the place from Seoul by car.
You can rent a house near by, with beautiful scenery! I went there with my family, had barbecue(not the lamb though lol) and visited the farm. It was incredible to experience feeding sheep and watch them how they walk or sleep while we were taking a long path around the hill. They were so cute and gentle.
It can be a very relaxing and educational trip for kids and adults and if you like nature, I highly recommend you to check out this place! 🙂

They are old photos I just found in my hard drive.
The place is called “민들레 영토 [Mindeulle youngto]” meaning “Dandelions land”. People shorten the name to “민토 [Minto]”
I used to go to this coffee chain to study with my friends.
It’s very comfortable atmosphere to study and you can order food or grab some drink and snack.
They also have private study room for groups or seminar etc. I used to study English every Saturday in one of the group rooms.
If you feel like chilling with your friends, reading or studying( it sounds weird but Korean people do.. :p), check out this place in Sinchon or Hongdae. There might be more of them now.
It’s my favorite pizza chain in the world. It’s pretty thin crust and the crust is generally filled with something like sweet potatoes and cheese. You will never imagine how tasty the crust can be or that it could even become your favorite part of eating pizza. I like the idea that they put a lot of different nutritious toppings on them.
They are many types of pizza so the toppings vary a lot. The pizza in the photo is called “Golden seafood pizza” and it’s got shrimp with plenty of veggies, plus sweet potato filled crust! hahah!
People usually visit stores and sit down to eat and there is a unlimited salad bar which you can enjoy along with pizza or as an appetizer. Just be careful not to eat too much of it and make yourself too full to enjoy the pizza with the full enthusiasm!
I wish I had the chains in Canada as well. Should I be the first one who opens it? 😉
The CEO of Mr. Pizza is Jung Woo-Hyun (정우현). The president is Lee Ju-bok (이주복). As of 2010, the company had franchised 350 stores in Korea, two in the United States, one in Vietnam, and 15 in China.
South Korean pizza chain established in 1990. It is based in Banpo-Dong, Seocho-Gu, Seoul. After establishing a franchise in Ewha Women’s University, Mr. Pizza opened a store in Beijing, China in 2000 and has two stores in the Los Angeles Area in Koreatown and recently opened a store in Little Tokyo. The Mr. Pizza logo, a slanted, stylized ‘Pizza & Hand’, is symbolic of two people (the company and customer) shaking hands.
This is my hometown, Bupeyong.
I think I used to see these robots in the past but didn’t remember they existed after 4 years of living in Ottawa.
She definitely freaked me out because she bowed at me as I was walking by.
I thought you might find it interesting since you won’t see this type of scene in the western world yet!
It hides your private sound with the beautiful waterfall music.;)
